Fun Ways For Your Youngster To Discover Art

Teaching children to take pleasure in and understand art at a young age is certainly one of the greatest things you can do to encourage their sense of creativity. Because kids love to explore many things in life, it is often quite rewarding to let them have experiences which are very enriching when they are young. It is best not to give them the impression that there is a wrong or right way to make art, so help keep their primary focus on having fun and discovering new things, this will prevent you from suppressing their desire to try things out. If you are searching for ways to boost your little one's appreciation of art, below are some exploration crafts that will be fun for both you and your child.

Playing with Finger Paints

Using finger paints is something that even the littlest child can do. Children very often find the thought of moving around the paint with their hands very attractive. Also, finger paints can be quite simple to use, and affordable as well.   The few materials you need include varying colors of finger paint, a table surface that is protected in some way, some method of keeping your child clean such as an apron or some old clothes, and a good supply of paper. You can even make your own finger paints from home, all you have to do is to mix one quarter cup of cornstarch, one and a half tablespoons of sugar, one cup of cold water, and a quarter teaspoon of salt together in a saucepan. Cook this mixture over low temperature for approximately ten minutes, making sure that you stir it constantly. As soon as the mixture has thickened to the look and feel you desire for your finger paint, remove the pan from the heat and give it time to cool. Separate this blend into a few little plastic containers of some kind, and then add a couple of drops of food coloring to each container, and then you will have lots of finger paint in many colors for your youngster to play with. Once their paintings are dry, place one or two in colorful large picture frames to ensure that they can experience the pride of having their artwork displayed on the wall.

Crayon Scratch Art

Crayon scratch art is often a popular choice among youngsters, since they seem to enjoy an element of surprise in their art. To begin with, cover up the table with paper or a plastic tablecloth to help protect the surface. Also, because of stray pieces of crayon often dropping off of the table, it could also be a good idea to place some kind of protection on the floor, maybe a drop cloth or even some paper. Provide your child with several crayons in a wide variety of colors, and a large supply of paper. Encourage them to use a variety of differing colors to draw patterns on the paper, making sure to cover the whole paper surface in colors. Make sure they do not use black crayons for this step in the process. And then, have them use a black crayon to color over the whole surface of the paper, including all of the colors. Give them a wooden popsicle stick or a plastic spoon, and let them scratch designs onto the paper. This will take away the layer of black crayon, showing the wide array of colors beneath. They may scratch off as much or as little of the layer of black as they desire to create the effect they want. When finished, brush off the paper in order to remove any loose crayon shavings. The end result is a kind of reverse art, which can be quite interesting. Display a few of their best artwork in interesting distressed picture frames.

Your youngsters will love showing their artistic personalities with these easy but fun projects.
