Designs From A Handicapped Artist
Gaining the task of developing a federal brochure gave much joy to a lady designer's marketing firm. This may be a short break from by the book military projects, but catering to the needs of the general services administration will prove to be a great outlet for much creativity. Drawing on several sheets of brown paper, she had them delivered to her sister during her trip to Connecticut for physical therapy. Once the concepts were approved by the GSA, she had to wait for a good day, when the nerve pain eased, and then skip her therapy to finish the illustrations. A similar GSA brochure received an award last month and it was also designed by a lady artist who made the drawings herself.
A panel of nationally recognized design professionals commented on the intensity of her illustrations not to mention her techniques and vibrant color choices. Obviously the project benefited the sisters, the lady artists, in a way that any award would never compare to. In simple terms, she saw the project as something that gave her sister a purpose, said the other sibling.
Finishing her line of post accident works including the brochure illustrations, the artist does not only plan on resuming her therapy but also looks forward to the spring where she plans on painting again, soon after she will hold an art show with her artist son. She comments on how life can always turn itself around.
