The MOE Carbine Stock By Magpul
Magpul have cornered the market in inexpensive yet rugged and well thought out AR-15 accessories. Many of these accessories make use of strong, impact and corrosion resistant fiber-reinforced polymer technology, but aluminium and steel are used where their properties are required. One of their best-sellers is the MOE collapsible carbine stock which has won a great following in military, security and sports shooting circles.
The Magpul MOE stock is their entry level M-4 carbine stock and is designed to provide a quality replacement for the original USGI unit. The MOE is supplied in mil-spec and commercial models to suit the different buffer tubes fitted on military and commercial ARs. The stock's A-frame protects the release catch from accidental actuation. An extra-power lock employs a premium chrome-silicon steel spring to prevent the stock collapsing under recoil or vibration and is highly resistant to compression induced fatigue and relaxation. Fitted as standard with a 0.30" rubber butt pad, the mil-spec model can be fitted with 0.55" and 0.70" pads as an option. To take the larger commercial buffer, the commercial version comes as standard with the 0.55" butt pad with the 0.70" optional. Though they are rare, there are some military buffers out there with an extended slant back that requires the mil-spec stock to be used with the 0.55" butt pad. The standard comb is narrow, yet sloped for compactness and comfort in use. For rifles other than the AR, the MOE can be fitted with 0.25", 0.50" or 0.75" cheek risers - on ARs these would foul the operating handle except with the stock at full extension. These are at home on other combat rifles such as Sigs and are often used on bolt action rifles such as the Howa and combat shotguns.
The MOE stock offers several options for fitting a sling including two horizontal slots, one slot in the lower arm of the stock and a vertical one in the buttplate. The toe of the butt includes a loop for para cord slings. Another option is to employ a single point or Magpul MS2 single or two piece sling and replace the end plate of the AR-15's action with a Magpul ASAP Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point. The ASAP provides 180 degrees of movement with its rugged 1/8" steel sling loop. This enables the weapon to be rapidly switched from shoulder to shoulder to accommodate a rapidly evolving tactical environment or if one arm is injured. Shooting over and around cover is greatly facilitated by this. The Magpul MOE is available in Black, Dark Earth, OD Green and Foliage green to suit various theatres of operation and operator preference.
